India has yet to reopen the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor despite a ceasefire with Pakistan after a military conflict. India ceased access to the corridor on May 7. In contrast, Pakistan continues to keep the corridor open, reaffirming its commitment to religious harmony and Sikh-Muslim brotherhood.

The administration at Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur stated that it is fully prepared to welcome Sikh pilgrims. “We are always ready to host our Sikh brothers,” the officials said.

Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora, head of the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee and Punjab’s Minister for Minority Affairs and Human Rights, urged Indian authorities to immediately reopen the corridor, emphasising the spiritual and cultural importance of the site for Sikh believers.

In a statement, Ramesh invited Sikhs from across the globe and those who were in India could come to visit Pakistan for upcoming religious observances any time.

Notably, Sikhs observe the martyrdom day of the fifth Sikh Guru, Arjan Dev Ji, and the death anniversary of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, both of which are commemorated in June.

“Our doors are always open. The relationship between Pakistan and the Sikh community is strong and rooted in historic friendship,” he said.

Sardar Ramesh Singh noted that the global Sikh community, including those in India, stood in support of Pakistan during the recent escalation between the two nations.

“The state, people, and government of Pakistan deeply value the loyalty and support of the Sikh community,” he added.

Pakistan has repeatedly emphasised the Kartarpur Corridor as a symbol of peace and religious tolerance, urging India to reciprocate by restoring access for Sikh pilgrims.
