Iran slams G7 for ignoring Israeli aggression

Iran has strongly criticized the G7 leaders’ recent statement for its glaring omission of Israel’s blatant acts of aggression against the Islamic Republic, including unlawful attacks on Iran’s peaceful nuclear infrastructure and the indiscriminate targeting of residential areas, resulting in the deaths of innocent civilians.

In an official response, Iranian officials emphasized that the G7, particularly its members who are permanent members of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), must fulfill their legal and moral obligations in the face of this egregious violation of the UN Charter. It is incumbent upon them to speak with clarity and integrity, recognizing Israel’s unprovoked war of aggression for what it is.

The Israeli attacks represent not only a serious breach of the UN Charter but also an unprecedented assault on the principles of the global non-proliferation regime, undermining the legal safeguards meant to protect non-nuclear states from military aggression against peaceful nuclear facilities.

Israel’s offensive against Iran, including direct strikes on civilian infrastructure, residential areas, hospitals, and health centers, constitutes a grave violation of international law, particularly Article 2(4) of the UN Charter, which prohibits the use or threat of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state.

Iran firmly maintains that it is exercising its inherent right to self-defense in response to Israel’s unjustified and unlawful aggression. In light of the severe loss of civilian life, the destruction of public and private property, and the blatant targeting of critical infrastructure, Iranian officials have called on the UNSC to urgently act in accordance with its primary responsibility to maintain international peace and security.

Failure to act decisively would not only embolden the aggressor but also undermine the very foundation of the United Nations system.

True regional stability, Iran asserts, depends on the immediate cessation of Israeli hostilities, accountability for its violations of international law, and an end to selective, one-sided narratives from influential global forums.

The G7, in particular, must recognize that the root cause of the current escalation is Israel’s aggression—and adjust its stance accordingly.
