Tehran reported that numerous other sites and targets were struck in the attack, dubbed “Operation True Promise,” which involved over 300 drones and missiles.
Iranian authorities have stated that the Nevatim air base which hit the Iranian consulate in Syria was targeted in the attack.
Iran claimed to have successfully hit 50 percent of its targets, although Israel has dismissed the Iranian strikes as failure.
Meanwhile, according to the US military, it intercepted and destroyed more than 80 drones and 6 ballistic missiles launched to attack Israel. These missiles and drones were launched from Iran.
The Iranian strikes were prompted by the Israeli airstrike on Iran’s consulate in Damascus on April 1, which led to the destruction of the entire building and the deaths of several high-ranking officials and advisors, including Brigadier General Mohamed Reza Zahidi of the IRGC Quds Force.
This attack was a serious violation of international law's of immunity and protection for diplomatic missions.
