The Israeli occupation army bombed an ambulance en route to the hospital for an emergency, carrying a Palestinian mother and her newborn in northern Gaza. A video of the heart-wrenching incident was released by the Drop Site.
The footage showed the ambulance passing through an area on its way to Kamal Adwan Hospital when it suddenly exploded, killing the mother and her friend instantly. The blast also injured the newborn and a paramedic inside the vehicle.
The bodies of the deceased could not be recovered as they were severely damaged and later mauled by stray dogs.
Miraculously, the newborn was rescued from the site the following day and transferred to Kamal Adwan Hospital for treatment.
The ambulance driver and a woman who witnessed the incident adopted the child.
The Israeli army continues to bomb refugee camps, ambulances, hospitals, residential buildings, and aid centers in Gaza, under the pretext of targeting of Hamas operatives without providing substantial evidence.
According to human rights advocate Philippe Lazzarini, the chief of the UN agency for Palestine refugees, over 17,600 children have been killed since the beginning of the war, highlighting that Gaza has been experiencing the loss of one child every hour.
Seven babies succumbed to the harsh winter conditions in Gaza, underscoring the severe humanitarian crisis faced by Palestinian children displaced from their homes amidst Israel’s ongoing military offensive on the strip.
The overall Palestinian death toll since the beginning of Israel’s war on Gaza has reached at least 45,553 with more than 108,379 wounded. Thousands more remain trapped under the rubble of destroyed buildings.
