A Saudi Arabia court has sentenced Lieutenant General Khalid Bin Qarar Al-Harbi, former director of public security, to 20 years in prison, dismissal from service, and a fine of SR1 million, Arab media reported.
According to the publication, Al-Harbi was found guilty of corruption, misusing his powers, manipulating public funds, forgery, and accepting bribes.
The court's verdict included dismissal from service, effectively ending Al-Harbi's career in public security. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison for his crimes.
The Kingdom's court also imposed a fine of SR1 million, which will be deposited in the government treasury.
The court ordered the confiscation of assets acquired through illicit means, including more than SR10 million received as bribes, money collected through other means, gifts, and agricultural land.
The punishment was handed down under criminal law, showing the "kingdom's commitment to holding individuals accountable for their actions, regardless of their position or rank".
