Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai has strongly condemned the detention of the aid workers by Israeli forces, who were moving to Gaza on the Madleen ship.

In her post on X,  Malala Yousafzai said: "The Madleen was carrying baby formula and aid. The Israeli government is starving children by day while bombing their homes by night. The stoppage and detention of activists on the Madleen is an act of cowardice by Israel. Preventing food and medical supplies from reaching people in need is a violation of international law."

Israel must release all the brave activists. Allow aid to Gaza immediately, commit to a permanent ceasefire, let Palestinians live in dignity and peace, she added.

The Freedom Flotilla Coalition, the group behind the Madleen’s voyage confirmed late Sunday that Israeli forces had intercepted the vessel and kidnapped all 12 passengers.

Among them is renowned Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant reportedly ordered that the activists be shown footage from the October 7 Hamas attack upon their arrival in Israel.
