Mexican beauty influencer shot dead during TikTok livestream

A 23-year-old Mexican influencer, Valeria Marquez, was shot inside her beauty salon in Zapopan city while she was live streaming on TikTok.
The shocking incident occurred on Tuesday and went viral on social media, as the horrifying moment was captured live. Valeria had over 223,000 followers on Instagram and was well-known for her beauty content and salon updates.
According to reports, Marquez received a parcel during the livestream and briefly left the frame. Moments after returning to the camera, she suddenly collapsed in her chair, covered in blood, while the stream continued broadcasting.
Police confirmed that a gunman entered the salon and opened fire. Authorities are treating the case as a suspected femicide, the murder of a woman based on her gender.

Moments before the attack, Valeria was heard saying, “They’re coming,” to someone off-camera.
A voice responded, “Hey, Vale?” to which she replied “Yes,” after which she received a parcel and gunshots followed shortly afterward.
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum addressed the incident during her morning press briefing, stating, “An investigation is underway to find those responsible and to determine the motive behind this situation. Our solidarity goes out to her family.”
