AHMEDABAD: In what’s being described as nothing short of a miracle, Ramesh Vishwakumar — the only passenger seated on 11A aboard the ill-fated Air India Flight 171 — reportedly survived the crash after managing to jump from the aircraft during the chaotic moments of the incident.

According to initial reports from rescue officials and eyewitnesses near the crash site, Vishwakumar somehow leapt from the emergency exit moments before the aircraft was engulfed in flames after crashing near a civilian area close to Ahmedabad airport.

Authorities are still verifying the exact sequence of events, but early accounts suggest that Vishwakumar’s seat, positioned near the emergency exit, may have given him a slim window of opportunity to escape.

Rescue teams later found him with multiple fractures but conscious, speaking to paramedics as he was transported to a nearby hospital.

The rest of the 242 passengers and crew aboard the London-bound Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner are feared dead, with search and recovery operations still underway.

Aviation experts are calling it a “one-in-a-billion” survival story, pending confirmation from Air India and investigative agencies.

More updates to follow as the investigation progresses.
