Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Pakistani Muslim sister, Qamar Sheikh, is set to arrive in Delhi soon to tie the rakhi to her brother, a tradition she has been following for 29 years.

Qamar, who belongs to a Muslim family in Karachi, migrated to India after marrying an Indian, Mohsin Sheikh, in 1981.

In an interview with Indian media, Qamar shared the story of how she became Narendra Modi's sister.

"I had gone to the airport to meet Dr. Swarup Singh, the then Governor of Gujarat, as he called me his daughter. When Narendra Modi came to know about this, he made me his sister, and since then, I have been tying rakhi to him," she said.

Qamar also recalled her first meeting with Narendra Modi during the meeting.

"I met him when he was a worker of Dr Swarup Singh. I prayed that one day he would become the Chief Minister of Gujarat, and when my prayer was accepted, I was overjoyed," she explained.

"When I met Narendra Modi on Raksha Bandhan, he asked me what my wish was for my brother. I prayed that he becomes the Prime Minister of the country. I am lucky that my prayer was answered, and today, he has become the Prime Minister for the third consecutive time," Qamar added.

She is eager to tie the rakhi to her brother for the 30th time this year, continuing their special bond.

Talking to Aaj Tak, Qamar said that she prepares 8 to 10 rakhis every year for Indian PM.

"I make many Rakhis with my own hands every year before Raksha Bandhan and in the end, I tie the Rakhi that I like the most on his wrist.

"The rakhi I have prepared this year, I have made it on velvet. I have used pearls, metal embroideries and tikki in the Rakhi."

She further told the Indian publication that her tickets were booked to Delhi for August 19, a day before Raksha Bandhan.
