Following the recent ceasefire between Pakistan and India, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) welcomed the truce and praised the efforts of "intermediary countries" in helping defuse rising tensions between the two neighbours.

It is worth noting that several Muslim countries, including Turkiye, Saudi Arabia, and Iran, played a significant role in helping Pakistan and India reach a cessation of violent confrontation after tensions escalated between the nuclear-armed neighbours following India’s military assault on innocent Pakistani civilians.

“We call on the international community to encourage Pakistan and India to engage in constructive dialogue to resolve outstanding issues,” said the 57-member Islamic bloc in a statement.

“We stress the need for a peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir issue in accordance with Security Council resolutions to avoid tension between two nuclear powers in South Asia,” the statement added.

“We are concerned about the military escalation in South Asia and call for restraint and the avoidance of destabilising the region.”
