Amid recent tensions, Pakistan and India exchanged one prisoner each at the Wagah-Attari border crossing, according to security sources.
An official of the Indian Border Security Force (BSF), Purnam Kumar Shah was handed over to Indian authorities by Pakistan. In return, India released Muhammad Allah, a Punjab Rangers official, to Pakistani authorities.
Both personnel had been detained by the respective forces for alleged border violations. Shah was apprehended by Pakistani forces, while Muhammad Allah was taken into custody by Indian forces.
This exchange followed a ceasefire agreement between the two countries, which was reached during a contact between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) on May 12.

Earlier reports on May 10 circulated claims that Pakistan had captured a female Indian pilot after her aircraft crashed in Pakistani territory. However, the Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, refuted these reports.
Currently, contact has only been established between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both nations. No contact between the governments has yet taken place for negotiations.
It is worth noting that the US administration, including President Donald Trump, has expressed interest in facilitating dialogue between both countries to prevent future military conflict.
