Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have formally implemented a mutual visa waiver agreement for holders of diplomatic and official passports, according to Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.
In a post on social media platform X on Sunday, Dar said the UAE had informed Pakistan that the waiver became effective on July 25, 2025, at all UAE airports. The agreement was reached between Dar and UAE’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
“We agreed on mutual visa waivers on diplomatic and official passports between our two brotherly countries and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to operationalize this arrangement after 30 days,” Dar wrote.
Reciprocal arrangements for Emirati diplomatic and official passport holders have also been activated at Pakistani airports, he added.
The development follows a meeting earlier this month between Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and UAE’s Interior Minister Lt Gen Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, during which the Emirati official pledged support to expedite visa processing for Pakistani citizens.
In June, the two countries signed an MoU on mutual visa exemption during the 12th session of the Pakistan-UAE Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC).
