Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani on Sunday called on the international community to reject “double standards” and hold Israel accountable for its actions, as Doha prepares to host an emergency summit of Muslim leaders today (Monday) in response to Israel’s recent attack on Hamas members in the Qatari capital.

Speaking at a meeting held inside the Ritz-Carlton hotel in central Doha, Sheikh Mohammed condemned “barbaric Israeli attack,” while expressing gratitude for the solidarity shown by Arab, Islamic, and friendly nations that supported Qatar.

“We appreciate the solidarity of brotherly Arab and Islamic countries, and friendly states in the international community that condemned this barbaric Israeli attack,” Sheikh Mohammed said. “They expressed full support for us and for the legitimate legal measures we will take to safeguard our sovereignty.”

The Qatari premier stressed the need for decisive measures against Israel, saying:

“It’s time for the international community to abandon dual standards and hold Israel accountable for all the crimes it has committed. Israel must know that its ongoing genocidal war against the Palestinian people, aimed at forcibly displacing them from their homeland, cannot succeed—regardless of the false justifications provided.”

Meanwhile, a statement issued by the Pakistani government on Monday morning confirmed that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will travel to Qatar to take part in the Arab-Islamic summit.
