US congresswoman Rashida Tlaib recorded her protest against Israel's military offensives in Gaza by holding "war criminal and guilty of genocide" signs during Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech at a joint session of the US Congress.
Israeli Prime Minister addressed the session in a bid to gather support from US lawmakers for his country's war against Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
Netanyahu was invited by the Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, whose Republican Party rallied its support behind the Israeli war crimes.
“We’re not only protecting ourselves. We’re protecting you … Our enemies are your enemy, our fight is your fight, and our victory will be your victory,” Netanyahu said during his address.
Pro-Palestine activists held protests outside and inside the US Capitol complex on the day of Netanyahu’s speech.
Reportedly, protesters also gained access to the hotel building, where Netanyahu is staying in Washington, DC, and released bugs in the hotel and pulled fire alarms.
However, the Israeli PM also faced criticism for his criminal activities during his speech.
The Michigan representative Rashida Tlaib, a leading progressive Democrat and fiercely outspoken opponent of Israel’s war in Gaza, held up a sign that read “war criminal” and "guilty of genocide".
