Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar faced trolling online after he appeared to fumble and offer vague responses during an interview with a foreign journalist who questioned him about former US President Donald Trump’s role in brokering a ceasefire between India and Pakistan.
During the interview, Jaishankar was asked about Trump's repeated claims of mediating a truce between the two South Asian nations. The Indian minister stumbled initially, pausing awkwardly and failing to provide a clear answer.
The journalist followed up by questioning whether the Indian government had successfully apprehended the four individuals allegedly involved in the Pahalgam incident.
Jaishankar responded that the government had identified the suspects through images but did not explain why law enforcement agencies failed to arrest them.
When asked if "Operation Sindoor," as claimed by the Indian Army to be ongoing after the ceasefire, was still active, Jaishankar again avoided giving a direct answer.

In one particularly mocked moment, when asked, “Where was the US in this process (ceasefire)?”, Jaishankar simply replied, “Well, the US was in the United States,” a vague statement that triggered a wave of criticism and ridicule on social media.
Many users from both Pakistan and India took to social platforms to mock the minister’s unconvincing replies, questioning whether the issue was a language barrier or an inability to defend the government’s actions.
Critics argued that the exchange exposed the cracks in India's narrative to the world.
For all these years of my life I thought that US was in Kailasa but all thanks to Mr. Laser Jaishankar to clarify that US is in United States.

Where are all the ultra-nationalists Indians now? Jaishankar himself admits that India requested the US to mediate and ask Pakistan for a ceasefire…
