Global coffee giant Starbucks has announced the layoff of 1,100 employees due to declining sales.
CEO Brian Niccol stated that the decision aims to make the company more efficient and productive. Niccol, who was appointed as Starbucks' CEO in 2024, previously led Chipotle Mexican Grill out of a financial crisis.
Starbucks clarified that store staff will not be affected by the layoffs, and the company will continue investing in improving customer experience and operational efficiency.
Additionally, some less popular beverages, including White Hot Chocolate and certain Frappuccino drinks, will be removed from the menu to streamline offerings.
