US President Donald Trump, in a post on his Truth Social platform, laid out reasons he believes he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize, citing his role in resolving conflicts across Africa, the Middle East, and South Asia.
Trump highlighted his diplomatic achievements, including peace negotiations between the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda, a war-torn region with a long history of violent conflict and heavy casualties.
He stated that he, along with Secretary of State Marco Rubio, had brokered a deal between the two nations. According to Trump, representatives from both Rwanda and the Congo are scheduled to arrive in Washington on Monday to officially sign the agreement.
He further claimed that his efforts played a pivotal role in fostering peace in the Middle East through the Abraham Accords. Trump expressed confidence that more countries would soon join the accords.
Despite these efforts, Trump voiced disappointment over a lack of recognition from international institutions. He pointed out that even though he helped prevent major conflicts, including a potential war between Egypt and Ethiopia over the Grand Renaissance Dam and tensions between Russia and Ukraine, he has not been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
“I won’t get a Nobel Peace Prize for keeping Peace between Egypt and Ethiopia (A massive Ethiopian built dam, stupidly financed by the United States of America, substantially reduces the water flowing into The Nile River), and I won’t get a Nobel Peace Prize for doing the Abraham Accords in the Middle East which, if all goes well, will be loaded to the brim with additional Countries signing on, and will unify the Middle East for the first time in “The Ages!,” he wrote.
Trump also mentioned his role in easing hostilities between Pakistan and India, emphasiaing that his diplomatic engagement helped prevent a nuclear crisis in South Asia. Notably, the Pakistani government has officially recommended Trump for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize.
In his statement, Trump reiterated that he should be recognised for brokering ceasefires in multiple regions, including Rwanda, Congo, Serbia, Kosovo, and between Pakistan and India.
