Trump threatens to cut federal funding if Zohran Mamdani becomes NYC mayor

U.S. President Donald Trump has issued a stark warning that New York will not receive federal funds if Zohran Mamdani is elected mayor.
In an interview with an American television channel, Trump claimed that Mamdani is a “pure communist”, adding, “If Zohran Mamdani wins, it will be terrible for New York.”
Trump went on to say, “If Mamdani wins and I am re-elected president, he will have to fall in line. Otherwise, New York will receive no money.”
It is worth noting that the New York mayoral elections are scheduled for November this year, and Mamdani recently won the Democratic primary by a wide margin.

Zohran Mamdani, a Muslim candidate for mayor, previously made headlines for declaring that if he becomes mayor and the Israeli Prime Minister visits New York, he will order his arrest.
Assemblyman Mamdani, 33, who represents the Queens district, has drawn strong support from young voters, many of whom were seen campaigning energetically in Long Island City on the final day.
