Turkish hackers reportedly took over public address (PA) systems at several airports in the United States and Canada, broadcasting "Free Palestine" messages and profanities targeting US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Passengers at Harrisburg International Airport in Pennsylvania shared videos on social media showing the unauthorised announcements echoing through the terminal.

Similar incidents were reported at Kelowna International Airport and Victoria International Airport in British Columbia, as well as Windsor International Airport in Ontario, according to Transport Canada, the country’s aviation regulator.

The hackers reportedly aired messages denouncing both the Trump administration and Israel’s leadership.

“This is absolutely unacceptable and understandably frightened travelers,” US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy wrote on social media, confirming that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is assisting Harrisburg airport authorities in investigating the breach.

The cyber intrusion is the latest in a growing series of attacks targeting the aviation sector. Earlier this year, a major cybercriminal network compromised multiple US and Canadian airlines, according to the FBI.

In a separate incident last month, hackers disrupted a passenger check-in system across Europe, triggering widespread flight cancellations and delays.
