Beirut/Jerusalem: Two Israeli soldiers have been killed and four others seriously injured following an explosion during an operation in southern Lebanon, according to media reports.
The Israeli military confirmed the deaths but did not initially provide detailed information about the incident.
Israeli and other media reports later stated that the soldiers were hit by an explosion inside a building, which also injured several other personnel.
Some reports suggested that the blast may have been caused by a pre-planted explosive device; however, the cause has not been officially confirmed.
Following the incident, Israel carried out airstrikes in southern Lebanon.
