The United States has once again vetoed a United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolution calling for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and unrestricted humanitarian aid access. Fourteen out of fifteen UNSC members voted in favor of the resolution, with Pakistan among those supporting it.
The draft resolution, introduced by Algeria on behalf of ten non-permanent members, including Pakistan, demanded an immediate and lasting ceasefire in Gaza, full access to humanitarian aid, and the release of all hostages held by Hamas.
Despite overwhelming support, the resolution was blocked by the United States. Defending its veto, the US argued that the proposed ceasefire was not explicitly linked to the release of Israeli captives, a key concern for Washington.
Israeli attacks on Gaza continue unabated. On Wednesday alone, at least 100 Palestinians were killed and over 400 injured, according to local health authorities.

In a separate development, the American Gaza Humanitarian Foundation has suspended aid distribution operations, citing the need for improved logistical management.
China's UN Ambassador, Fu Cong, condemned Israel for "crossing every red line," and criticised the international community for enabling the violence through impunity, which has prolonged the suffering in Gaza,” he remarked.
Human rights activists and pro-Palestinian groups denounced the US veto, calling it a green light for continued bloodshed in the besieged Palestinian territory.
The United Nations has declared Gaza the “hungriest place on Earth,” warning that the entire population of the besieged Palestinian territory is now at imminent risk of famine.
Over 54,607 people have been killed, the majority being women and children. According to Palestinian authorities in Gaza, nearly 11,000 bodies are still trapped under rubble.
Nearly 20 months into the war, there has been no significant progress toward ending Israel’s genocide against Paalestnians.

This hand will testify on the Day of Judgement. The US has now single-handedly vetoed a Gaza ceasefire resolution at the UN five times. Historically, more than half of the U.S.’ security council vetoes have been used to protect Israel from accountability. pic.twitter.com/AhNlRN7s08

On June 4, 2025, as Gaza’s children are buried beneath rubble, the U.S. stood shamefully alone—casting the only vote against a UN Security Council resolution demanding an immediate, unconditional, and permanent ceasefire.
