US Senator Ted Cruz calls for arming Iranian protesters

US Senator Ted Cruz has said that Iranian protesters should be armed so they can take control of the country’s current leadership.

According to Arab media, the Texas senator made the remarks in a statement posted on social media platform X, saying that the United States would be far safer once Iran’s Supreme Leader was removed from power, as Ayatollah Ali Khamenei regularly chants slogans of “Death to America”.

Cruz’s comments came in response to a post shared by an account named Tehran Bureau on X, which referred to the provision of international aid for those killed during unrest amid ongoing protests in Iran.

Senator Ted Cruz is known for his hardline stance on Iran.

During the Iran–Israel conflict, he had also accused the Iranian government of allegedly plotting to assassinate a sitting US president.
