The federal budget for the fiscal year 2026-27 is likely to be presented on June 5, according to media reports.

Citing sources, the reports said that preparations are underway for the National Economic Survey, which is expected to be presented on June 4.

They said that a meeting of the National Economic Council to be chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, may now be held on June 3 instead of May 22.

Similarly, the Annual Plan Coordination Committee (APCC) meeting has been rescheduled from May 20 to June 1.

The reports said that the budget preparations are also continuing alongside ongoing consultations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The IMF has reportedly demanded an additional Rs400 billion in revenue generation from provinces.

However, they added that added that several key areas of the budget have already been agreed upon between the government and the global lender.
