Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja has announced that a new policy is being developed to provide smartphones in easy installments, aiming to ensure digital devices are accessible to every individual.

She urged that the government’s vision is to promote education and skills development across the country through digital platforms.

Speaking at an event held at the Pak-China Friendship Centre, the minister highlighted the role of technology in democratizing access to knowledge.

She stated that digital connectivity can empower the younger generation, including female students, to explore new career opportunities in science and technology.

She added that the introduction of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education aligns with the broader vision of the government.

As part of this vision, digital access through affordable smartphones is a key enabler of inclusive learning.

Minister Khawaja also noted that under the DigiSkills program, 100,000 youth were trained within a year, and the government has set a target to train 1 million students in artificial intelligence (AI) this year.
