In a move aimed at boosting trade ties between Pakistan and China, K2 Airways has signed an agreement with a Chinese state-owned Development and Logistics Group to begin cargo flight operations from Karachi to Kashgar.

The agreement was formalized during a ceremony held at a local hotel in Karachi, attended by Sindh Minister for Industries and Commerce Jam Ikramullah Dharejo and officials from the Chinese consulate.

According to the airline, the cargo service is expected to commence at the end of April, with three weekly flights initially planned. The operations will include a stop in Lahore, and there are future plans to expand to additional Chinese cities.

Speaking at the event, Minister Dharejo emphasised the significance of the initiative in strengthening Pakistan-China relations, already deepened through the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). He noted that the cargo flights would facilitate seafood exports to China and promote IT imports to Pakistan.

K2 Airways CEO Tariq Majeed Raja said the service would help export fruits and vegetables to China and import e-commerce goods to Pakistan. He also confirmed the airline’s future plans to extend cargo services to other regions.
