The State Bank of Pakistan has received $1.2 billion from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

According to the central bank, the IMF’s Executive Board completed the second review of Pakistan’s Extended Fund Facility (EFF) on 8 December 2025 and approved the release of 760 million Special Drawing Rights (SDRs).

In addition, the Board also approved the first tranche of 154 million SDRs under the Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF). As a result, Pakistan received a total of 914 million SDRs — equivalent to approximately $1.2 billion — from the IMF on 10 December 2025.

The State Bank confirmed that this amount will be added to the country’s foreign exchange reserves in the week ending 12 December 2025.

On December 8, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has approved a tranche of $1.29 billion for Pakistan.

The IMF Executive Board met on Monday in Washington, where the disbursement of the $1.29 billion installment was approved.

Out of the total amount, $200 million would be allocated for climate-related projects aimed at addressing the impacts of climate change.
