Petrol price expected to go up in Pakistan

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) on Tuesday submitted a summary to the federal government, proposing an increase in petroleum product prices for the second half of January 2025, according to local media reports.
Global oil prices have surged, with Brent Crude Oil climbing by 8.50% as of January 2025, reaching $80.50 per barrel in London.
If approved by the government, petrol prices will increase by Rs3.53, raising the per-litre cost from Rs252.66 to Rs256.19. High-speed diesel (HSD) prices are also set to rise by Rs3.66, taking the rate to Rs262 per litre from Rs258.34.
Similarly, kerosene oil prices will see an increase of Rs4.98, while light diesel oil prices may go up by Rs6.20. The new rates will come into effect for the next fortnight following approval from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
