Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik stated that the government has provided relief to the public that exceeds the fuel price reduction announced last week.

Speaking to the media in Lahore, Malik said that, by the grace of God, the first ten days of Muharram-ul-Haram concluded peacefully.

He commended the Pakistan Army, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and the Chief Minister of Punjab for their efforts in maintaining law and order.

The Petroleum Minister added that peace has now been restored in the region following the end of the Iran–U.S. conflict, which has contributed to a decline in global petroleum prices.

Referring to domestic fuel pricing, Malik said the government remains proactive in monitoring petroleum product prices. He noted that the relief provided to consumers was greater than the reduction recorded in global markets last week.

He added that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif ensured that the benefits were passed on to the public without delay and that consumers received greater relief than what was reflected by international market movements.

He further said that certain groups are misleading the public regarding petroleum prices.

He assured that if global oil prices continue to decline, the government will also reduce domestic fuel prices accordingly.

Malik added that Pakistan will continue to honor its international agreements while also considering the possibility of importing lower-cost oil and gas from Iran.
