Pakistan Peoples' Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Friday officially inaugurated Shahrah-e-Bhutto, also known as the Malir Expressway, marking the completion of one of Karachi’s major infrastructure projects aimed at improving urban connectivity and reducing traffic congestion.

The six-lane, signal-free corridor connects Qayyumabad to Kathore on the M-9 Motorway, providing commuters with a faster alternative route for travel across the city.

The project is expected to significantly reduce travel time for motorists heading towards the airport, the National Highway and the Super Highway.

Stretching from Qayyumabad to the Kathore Interchange on the M-9 Motorway, the expressway features multiple interchanges designed to ensure uninterrupted traffic flow throughout the route.

The mega project was developed under a public-private partnership model by the Sindh government as part of efforts to modernize Karachi’s transport and road infrastructure.

Authorities have also announced strict traffic regulations for the corridor, with motorcycles, rickshaws and loader vehicles prohibited from using the expressway to maintain smooth traffic movement and safety standards.
