Young man, Ali Jafari, speaks out after alleged violence in Karachi’s Defence

Young man, Ali Jafari, has spoken to the media after allegedly being subjected to violence in Karachi’s Defence area.

Speaking after a case was registered over the incident, Jafari said the relevant staff cooperated during the process, although he had to wait for some time. He expressed hope that justice would be served and that those found responsible would be punished.

Ali Jafari’s teacher, Abdullah Jamal, alleged that efforts were made to persuade both families to settle the matter. He claimed Jafari was kept under severe mental distress for six days and was forced to attempt suicide.

Jamal also rejected reports suggesting that the incident stemmed from a financial dispute. He said there was no issue involving money and that Jafari’s friend Faisal had called him. He questioned whether a dispute over Rs50,000 to Rs60,000, even if it had existed, could justify allegedly taking someone away and subjecting them to such violence.

Jamal further claimed that Jafari sustained serious injuries to his leg and hand, while several aspects of the alleged incident were not visible in the available video.

Advocate Talha Baloch said Ali Faisal, Ibrahim Malik, Ibrahim and five others had been nominated in the case. He said sections relating to harassment, abduction, threats to kill and other offences had been included in the FIR.

Baloch also challenged media reports linking the incident to a money transaction and called for those making such claims to record their statements with police under Section 161 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
