Television is a staple in every household, and its remote control is commonly used to operate it. But did you know that the same remote can harbor more germs than a toilet?
According to an international website, TV remotes can surprisingly be more contaminated than other everyday household items.
Researchers have found that TV remotes hold more bacteria than bed sheets, kitchen counters, laptop keyboards, door handles, and even toilet seats. In fact, a remote control can have up to 15 times more bacteria than a toilet seat.
A startling survey conducted in the UK among 2,000 people revealed that 1 in 4 people have never cleaned their TV remote.
Despite being used around 150 times a day to switch channels, adjust volume, and more, many remotes are left uncleaned.
Sarah Khan from Churchill Home Insurance commented that while many British citizens keep their homes clean, the study shows that 1 in 4 people have never cleaned their TV remote.
