Five premature newborns die days after birth in Swabi hospital

Five newborn babies who were born simultaneously at Bacha Khan Medical Complex in Shah Mansur, Swabi, passed away five days after birth.

The babies included one boy and four girls. Their father, Muhammad Naveed, son of Naseer Muhammad, is a resident of Mansoor Khel locality in Zaida, Swabi.

According to hospital authorities, all five infants were born prematurely.

Four of the newborns were admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), where they remained under the supervision of the NICU in-charge and were provided with advanced medical care.

The delivery and subsequent medical treatment of the newborns were carried out completely free of charge under the government’s health card programme.

Medical experts stated that due to extreme prematurity and low birth weight, the infants could not survive and passed away despite medical intervention.
