Karachi witnesses sharp increase in pneumonia cases among children

Karachi is witnessing an increase in cases of pneumonia among children.
According to the Emergency In-Charge of the Children’s Hospital, approximately 30 pneumonia cases are reported daily at the Children's Hospital, while the Civil Hospital reports about 10 to 15 cases daily.
On the other hand, Dr. Khalid Shafee, Secretary-General of the Pakistan Pediatrics Association, stated that cases of pneumonia tend to rise in October, November, and December, and there are vaccines available for some types of pneumonia.
Dr. Khalid Shafee informed that more than 70,000 deaths due to pneumonia occur annually in Pakistan, with children under two years and individuals over 65 being at higher risk.
He explained that symptoms of pneumonia include coughing up green, yellow, or red mucus, fever, sweating, chills, difficulty breathing, deep breathing, and chest pain associated with coughing.
