Rawalpindi: Nine-year-old Abdullah, who was sent back from India without treatment despite suffering from a congenital heart condition, has successfully undergone open-heart surgery at the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC).
According to Shahid Ali, the father of the child, the surgery was conducted smoothly and the boy is now recovering.
Shahid also shared that Abdullah’s 7-year-old sister, Mansa, who was also suffering from a heart condition, underwent angioplasty, while her open-heart surgery has been scheduled for six months later.
Expressing his gratitude, Shahid Ali thanked the Chief of Army Staff, the Federal Health Minister, and others who made the treatment possible.
The siblings had previously traveled to India for treatment of their heart conditions.
However, in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack, Indian authorities denied medical treatment and sent the children back without any procedures, drawing criticism and concern from humanitarian circles.
The Pakistani government, particularly military and health officials, facilitated their treatment upon return, ensuring that the children received the necessary medical care locally.
