PIMS, Polyclinic among 48 medical centres fined over fire safety in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has taken action against 48 hospitals, clinics and other medical facilities in Islamabad for allegedly failing to comply with fire and life safety regulations.

The authority has issued challans carrying fines of more than Rs140 million to the medical centres for violations of mandatory fire and life safety requirements.

The facilities facing action include major healthcare institutions such as PIMS, Polyclinic and Capital Hospital, along with KRL Hospital and several other prominent medical centres.

According to the CDA, fines ranging from Rs50,000 to Rs500,000 have been imposed depending on the nature and extent of the violations.

Several major healthcare facilities, including KRL Hospital, have reportedly been fined Rs500,000 each for failing to meet the required fire and life safety standards.

The CDA said the action covers hospitals, private clinics and diagnostic laboratories that were found non-compliant with prescribed fire and life safety requirements.

The authority has warned healthcare facilities to ensure compliance with safety regulations to protect patients, staff and visitors from potential fire and other emergencies.
