Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has inaugurated the foundation of the Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer Treatment and Research.

During the ceremony, she emphasized the urgency of completing Lahore’s first government-run cancer hospital, aimed at providing free treatment for patients in advanced stages (Levels 3 and 4) of the disease.

The 915-bed hospital will be developed in two phases. The first phase will include a bone marrow center, cancer care clinic, residential facilities for doctors, and a mosque.

The second phase will feature an operation theatre, radiation therapy bunker, ICU, emergency ward, and parking plaza.

The hospital will offer services such as radiation therapy, chemotherapy, endoscopy, and more.

Maryam Nawaz also reiterated her commitment to improving public services, noting her personal connection to the cause following her mother’s passing from cancer.

“Anything that improves people's lives is my priority,” she said, pledging necessary steps for the welfare of the public over the next four years.
