Danish Taimoor clarifies remarks on multiple marriages amid backlash

Amid the online uproar, renowned actor Danish Taimoor addressed criticism over his remarks on multiple marriages, stating that his statements had been misinterpreted.

Taimoor, who discussed his right to marry four wives while sitting next to his spouse, Ayeza Khan, on his Ramadan show, clarified that he had used the word “Filhal” (for now) to emphasise that life is unpredictable and that he does not know how long he will live with Ayeza.

"The word Filhal has gone viral, but I encourage everyone to use this word," he said, while maintaining that he stands by his statement that he "has the right to marry four wives but won’t do it," because he loves his wife.

"I want to stay with her, but I don’t know how long I will live," he added, explaining that death is uncertain and that nothing lasts forever.

Taimoor also emphasised that as the host of a Ramadan show, it was his responsibility to convey Islamic teachings in their true essence.

"Ayeza and I laughed a lot while reading the comments because neither of us had that intention," he said.

He further expressed disappointment that, despite hosting the Ramadan show for the past 15 days, no one highlighted anything positive about it, choosing instead to focus only on certain remarks.

While Rabia Anum interjected, saying that people enjoy gossip, Danish called it unfair to judge anyone, asserting that 'only God knows the truth in people’s hearts.'

He further elaborated on his choice of words, saying, "I meant to say that as long as I am alive, I want to spend my life with Ayeza."
