Renowned actor Danish Taimoor found himself at the center of criticism over his remarks on polygamy during his Ramadan show. Though he dismissed any possibility of marrying again, his condescending attitude while addressing the topic in front of his wife, Ayeza Khan, did not sit well with many social media users.
Several people criticised him for making an unnecessary public spectacle on TV and bragging to his wife that religion grants him the right to marry more than once. Taimoor, however, made it clear that his love and respect for Ayeza were the reasons he would not pursue a second marriage.
“I want to say this in front of her and everyone that I am permitted to marry four wives, though I am not doing it. This permission is given to me by Allah, and no one can take this right away from me,” he stated while Ayeza and host Rabia Anum listened in silence.
“However, it is only due to my love and respect for her that, for now, I only want to spend my life with her,” he added.

Danish’s way of expressing love for Ayeza, while simultaneously emphasising his right to marry multiple wives, left social media users puzzled. Many slammed him for bringing up religious permission for multiple marriages in an 'arrogant' manner on national television.
“Imagine having Ayeza Khan, two kids, a luxurious lifestyle, and still saying, ‘Filhal inhi k sath zindagi guzarna chahta hoon’ (For now, I want to spend my life with only her)... Pakistani men will never stop using religion for their convenience. Sigh!” an X user commented.
“Every year, it's the same thing. If there were no ‘rishta culture’ in this country, men here wouldn’t even find a wife. But once they do, they always bring up the topic of four marriages,” another user wrote.
One user highlighted the conditions attached to the permission for multiple marriages, saying, “A Muslim man only knows that he is allowed four wives, but he doesn’t understand why this permission exists. Ek biwi ka haqooq puray hotay nahi, 4 karay gaye!” (He can’t even fulfill the rights of one wife, yet he talks about having four!)
Another user pointed out the contradiction in Danish’s way of expressing love for his wife, saying, “This was so insensitive and unexpected! On one hand, you treat her like a queen, give her all the credit for your achievements, and always speak highly of how she manages your home and family. On the other hand, you say this in front of her?”
