Bollywood actors Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, along with six Hyundai officials, have been named in an FIR lodged in India's Rajasthan over the promotion of a car that a customer claims had serious defects.
According to Indian media reports, the FIR was registered at Mathura Gate Police Station in Bharatpur after a court order from Bharatpur’s CJM Court No 2.
The complainant, Kirti Singh, claimed that the car she purchased had technical faults from the very first day and that repeated complaints to the company went unanswered.
The actors, who serve as Hyundai brand ambassadors, were included in the complaint under provisions of India’s Consumer Protection Act, 2019, which allows endorsers to be held accountable if products they promote are found to be defective or misleading.
“I bought the car based on advertisements featuring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone,” Singh said in her statement.

Police said the case has been registered under Section 420 (cheating) and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. An investigation is underway.
Shah Rukh Khan has been associated with Hyundai since 1998, appearing in numerous campaigns, including the 2023 launch of the Ioniq 5 electric SUV. Deepika Padukone joined as a brand ambassador in December 2023, with their most recent campaign promoting the 2024 Hyundai Creta.
