The Additional District and Sessions Court South has sought response from the family of late actress Humaira Asghar on whether they wish to formally pursue a legal case.
Humaira Asghar, who had been living alone in a flat in Karachi’s Defence Phase 6 for the past seven years, was found dead on July 8.
Her remains, reportedly in a severely decomposed state, were discovered approximately nine months after her death, raising serious questions about the circumstances surrounding the incident.
During a recent court hearing, police submitted their preliminary investigation report, confirming that Asghar’s postmortem had been conducted and samples sent for forensic analysis. However, the final report is still awaited.

According to the report, police have established contact with the actress’s family, but no clear statement has been made public regarding whether they intend to register a case.
In response, the court directed investigators to formally inquire whether the family wants to move forward with legal proceedings. A comprehensive report on the case has been requested by the court by August 16.
Furthermore, law enforcement officials also disclosed the discovery of an unidentified white powder stored in earthen pots at multiple locations within the apartment.
These samples have been sent to a laboratory for chemical analysis. As of now, police say there is no apparent reason for the presence of the substance.
