Several Indian accounts on X circulated a fabricated Instagram story falsely attributed to Pakistani actress Hania Aamir, accusing Pakistan’s Army Chief General Asim Munir of orchestrating the Pahalgam attack in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

This comes after the Indian government blocked access to the social media accounts of several prominent Pakistani celebrities, including Hania Aamir, Mahira Khan, Fawad Khan, Bilal Abbas Khan, and others, following the Pahalgam incident.

Hania Aamir, who enjoys a massive fanbase in India, was previously set to appear alongside Indian Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh in an upcoming film. However, amid escalating tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors, she was reportedly removed from the project.

The actress has long shared friendly relations with Indian artists, including rapper Badshah, with whom she has previously engaged in public online interactions that made headlines.

Due to her immense popularity across the border, many found the Indian government’s decision to restrict her account unjustified and politically motivated.

In the wake of the ban, some Indian social media users began spreading a doctored screenshot claiming to be from Hania Aamir's Instagram, in which she allegedly criticised General Asim Munir for provoking tensions that led to the banning of Pakistani artists in India.

The fake post read, “Just because of General Asim Munir’s actions in Kashmir, the entire Pakistani entertainment industry is now banned in India, and even social media accounts are being restricted.”

It also appealed to the Indian government to act against “Pakistan Army and Islamic terrorists,” while urging it not to punish the “common people of Pakistan.”

However, no such post has been shared by Hania Aamir on any of her verified platforms.
