Renowned host and actress Ayesha Omar has refuted claims that her upcoming Urdu-language reality show ‘Lazwal Ishq’ is a dating show.

In an exclusive interview with a platform, Ayesha stated that some media outlets have incorrectly labeled the show as a Pakistani version of a dating program. She clarified that neither she nor the production team has ever described it that way.

Ayesha emphasised that the show is not inspired by Western reality formats like ‘Love Island’. Instead, it focuses on meaningful conversations, building long-term relationships, and helping participants find partners with the ultimate goal of marriage.

She explained that while opinions on the promotional material may vary, the program is strictly a platform for matchmaking rather than casual dating.

Filmed in Turkiye, but tailored for Pakistani audiences, the show follows cultural values and norms. Participants will stay in a luxurious villa with separate floors, rooms, and dressing areas, while shared spaces like the lounge, kitchen, and poolside will allow for interaction.

Ayesha noted that similar formats have been shown in Pakistan before, where young people live in the same place but maintain personal space.

“Couples are not already made by us. Those who are participating, after knowing each other through communication, will get into dedicated relationships for marriage and that is the premise of the show. The games they will be playing will be based on communication,” she said.

She described ‘Lazwal Ishq’ as an insightful social experiment designed to showcase the conversations, interactions, and attitudes of young people. “[...] This is an overview of how young people communicate, what mistakes they make or how they rectify them,” she clarified.
