Pakistani host Mathira recently shared her candid thoughts on marriage, relationships, and societal indiscretions during a podcast appearance.

Mathira expressed concerns over the commercialisation of marriages in Pakistan.

"Marriages have become like business contracts, where parents prioritise wealth and status over genuine connections," the actress said.

Mathira noted that Pakistani society's rapid advancement has led to increased immorality and illicit relationships among young people, resulting in various problems.

"Everyone in Pakistan is suffering from depression and anxiety due to taking on others' responsibilities," she added.

Regarding marital relationships, Mathira underlined the importance of respecting each other's privacy.

"It's foolish to think that a wife or husband should be left alone when angry or anxious. Instead, they need explanation, time, and understanding," the renowned model said.

Mathira also addressed the rising trend of marriages ending over minor disagreements.

"With more options available, people quickly seek alternatives. Men often pursue other women after a disagreement, and surprisingly, young girls are already involved with married men."

She questioned the girls' motivations, asking, "Why are you behind married men when you're so young?"

On marriage, Mathira criticised the superficial criteria used by both parties.

"Boys focus on beauty and size, while girls prioritise wealth. Parents also prioritise wealth and status, reducing marriages to business deals." She warned that this approach leads to problems when expectations aren't met.

"A boy marries a girl based on beauty, but when she's no longer beautiful, he seeks other options. This flawed mindset needs to be changed."
