Renowned actor Gohar Rasheed called on politicians, celebrities, and others to share proof of the rewards they promised to give Arshad Nadeem, who clinched Pakistan's first Olympic gold medal in 40 years by winning the javelin throw final at the Paris Olympics 2024.

The Pakistani star shattered the Olympic record with a monumental 92.97-metre throw in the men's javelin event at the Summer Games on August 9.

Taking to Instagram, Gohar Rasheed said, “Everyone who has announced rewards for Mr Arshad Nadeem for winning the gold medal for Pakistan, please share receipts.”

The actor wanted to ensure that the athlete receives all the accolades promised to him and that these pledges are not mere publicity stunts.

Following Arshad Nadeem's historic victory, he was showered with reward offers, amounting to more than Rs160 million.

The International Association of Athletics Federations announced it will award $50,000 to gold medalists at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab extended heartfelt congratulations to the nation and announced a Rs50 million reward from the Sindh government for Nadeem's extraordinary achievement.

Governor Sindh, Kamran Tessori, pledged a Rs2 million cash prize and an iPhone 15 for the national hero.

The Punjab government announced a reward of Rs100 million for the Mian Channu-born sportsman.

Punjab Governor Sardar Salim Haider Khan pledged a Rs2 million cash prize for Arshad Nadeem.

Renowned singer Ali Zafar offered a Rs1 million cash prize and urged the government of Pakistan “to welcome him like a hero and establish a sports academy in his name.”

Cricketer Ahmed Shahzad announced a Rs1 million cash prize for the 27-year-old olympian. A private TV channel also pledged Rs1 million, while Pakistan Gas and Oil offered free petrol for life.

Mayor Sukkur Barrister Arsalan Islam Shaikh said Arshad Nadeem will be honored with a gold crown. 

Nadeem's victory marks a watershed moment for Pakistani sports. His gold medal marks the nation's first-ever individual and track-and-field Olympic medal.
