Renowned social worker Ramzan Chhipa recently shared a startling experience from Amjad Sabri’s final bath, a moment that left him in shock and moved him to prayer.
Chhipa recently appeared on a TV program where he recounted an emotional anecdote from the last rites of the legendary qawwal.
Amjad Sabri was a renowned figure in Sufi qawwali. He belonged to the esteemed Sabri family, and celebrated worldwide for their timeless renditions of Tajdar-e-Haram and Bhar Do Jholi.
The 39-year-old artist was shot dead during Ramadan in 2016, leaving behind five children and two widows.

Reflecting on Sabri’s final rites, Chhipa said, “Whenever I bathe a deceased person, I observe different things. When I was bathing Amjad Sabri, I suddenly stepped back in shock. I saw that he was smiling. I trembled and immediately called his family. They too witnessed this and began praying.”
He added, “Only God knows the truth behind such occurrences, but we often see different signs. Sometimes, the faces of the deceased reflect suffering, while others leave this world with a peaceful smile.”
As Chhipa’s revelation made rounds on social media, some users criticised him, arguing that such deeply personal and spiritual moments should not be shared publicly, while others dismissed it as an exaggeration.
However, many admired the idea that Sabri’s final moments were filled with tranquility and expressed hope that he found eternal peace in the afterlife.
