The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has warned of heavy rain, thunderstorms and strong winds in parts of northern Pakistan on Wedneaday, with a risk of urban flooding, flash floods and landslides in vulnerable areas.

Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are likely to receive rain. Isolated heavy showers are expected in the Potohar region and northeastern Punjab.

The Met Office said persistent heavy rainfall could cause flooding in low-lying areas of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Mardan, Swabi, Peshawar, Nowshera, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot and Lahore.

Residents in mountainous areas have also been warned of possible flash floods and landslides, particularly in Kashmir, Murree, Galiyat, KP, Gilgit-Baltistan and the Islamabad-Rawalpindi region.

Meanwhile, hot and humid conditions are expected to prevail across much of the country. Sindh and most parts of Balochistan are likely to remain hot and humid, with partly cloudy weather possible in some areas.
