A recent wedding-themed photoshoot featuring Jama Taqseem’s young stars, Nazeeha Zainab and Elahi Bux Khan, has sparked backlash online, with netizens criticizing the concept as “inappropriate” given the actors’ young age.
The photoshoot, shared on Instagram by photographer @arsh_lan and makeup by Urooj Mudassir, was titled “The Love in the Old Songs, A Storytale About Our Favourite Characters in a Parallel Universe.”
Nazeeha and Elahi, who gained recognition for their performances in the family drama Jama Taqseem, portrayed complex roles in the series, Elahi’s character being the cousin who harasses Nazeeha’s character within a joint family setup.
While both were praised for handling the sensitive storyline with maturity and depth, many viewers now believe romanticizing their on screen pairing through a wedding shoot sends the wrong message.
In the shoot, Nazeeha is styled as a bride waiting for her husband, and the duo is seen sharing romantic moments captured in both photos and videos.
While some social media users appreciated the young actors’ chemistry and styling, others expressed concern over the concept. Critics argued that glamorizing young stars in adult themed setups risks setting problematic precedents.
"I just wanted to tell you guys that this shoot has nothing to do with the drama and is not related to it. It’s honestly surprising how people fail to separate fiction from reality. A drama is a story and actors are artists. Photoshoots, interviews, and promotions are part of their job, not an emotional continuation of the plot," the makeup artists Urooj Mudassir responded to the criticism.
“I don’t blame these kids, they’re just starting out and will learn over time. But what was this brand thinking?” one user wrote on X.
Several others echoed similar sentiments, questioning the appropriateness of casting teenage actors in a wedding scenario.
This is wrong on so many levels,a bridal photoshoot featuring a teenager, and the couple they’re promoting literally portrayed a victim and abuser. All this just for hype? Unbelievable clownery 🤡🤡#jamataqseem pic.twitter.com/ATJA3PapV7

At first glance, I thought it's BTS from Jama Taqseem's last ep. Victim-Abuser thing aside, the girl is just 16 right now. Only Sweet 16!!! https://t.co/M6eSmzYlZn
