In a monumental achievement for Pakistani cinema, the female-led film "Nayab," directed by Umair Nasir Ali and starring Yumna Zaidi and Usama Khan, secured prestigious awards at the World Film Festival in Cannes.

The movie broke new ground at Cannes, claiming both the Best Foreign Film and Best First-Time Filmmaker awards in the feature film category, a landmark achievement for our film industry on the international scene.

Yumna Zaidi, took to Instagram to celebrate her cinematic debut with this historic win and expressed her gratitude. She tagged her team members who contributed to this achievement.

"Congratulations to the entire family of Nayab,” her post read.

A wave of congratulations poured in for "Tere Bin" actor from her fellow Pakistani actresses. Ayeza Khan, Zara Noor Abbas, and Hira Mani all expressed their heartfelt joy for their friend's achievement.

In 'Nayab,' Yumna takes on the lead role as Nayab, a woman with a lifelong dream of becoming a cricketer but faces obstacles due to family and societal pressures.

Set in Karachi, the ensemble cast of the film includes Javed Sheikh, Adnan Siddiqui, Osama Khan, and Muhammad Fawad Khan alongside Faryal Mehmood.

Nayab was released on January 26, 2024. The film delved into various issues such as domestic challenges, politics in player selection at the cricket academy, and glimpses of Nayab's struggles with fellow players, ultimately leading to her selection for the national team.
