Suicide attack foiled in Bannu; two security personnel injured

Two security personnel were injured after a suicide bomber attempted to ram a rickshaw into a security forces’ MRAP vehicle in the Jani Khel Mali Khel area of Bannu. 

The attacker was killed by security personnel before reaching the vehicle, averting potentially greater casualties.

The injured personnel were identified as Sepoy Zeeshan and Sepoy Khairuddin and were shifted to CMH Bannu for treatment. 

Majlis Askari Karwan, described as a sub-group TTP, claimed responsibility for the attack. Security was subsequently tightened in the area as investigations continued.

In a separate incident, Bannu police foiled another suspected terror attempt near the University of Science and Technology in Township. 

Police said suspicious explosive material was recovered from the area after Township Police Station SHO Javed Rasool Khan and his team reached the site and cordoned it off.
