The Punjab Home Department has formally requested the deployment of Pakistan Army troops in Lodhran to bolster ongoing flood relief efforts.
The request comes as military personnel have already been actively assisting in other flood-hit regions, including Lahore, Kasur, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Narowal, Okara, Sargodha, and Hafizabad.
The Army's presence has been critical in supporting district administrations and safeguarding lives in the affected areas.
The Punjab government continues its intensive rescue and relief operations, with key agencies such as the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), Civil Defence, Rescue, and Police working tirelessly to provide support.
Over 9,000 Civil Defence volunteers are on the ground, aiding in flood response efforts across the province.

Relief camps have been set up to offer shelter and care to displaced residents, while teams are also focused on evacuating people and their livestock to safer locations.
Authorities have urged the public to cooperate fully with ongoing operations to ensure the safety of all involved.
The Pakistan Army’s involvement was initially requested in light of the rising flood risk, following India’s decision to release water from the River Ravi dam.
The subsequent increase in water levels has further heightened the urgency of flood management and relief operations across Punjab.
